The main idea that led us to organizing the first CARE conference as well as this second edition was that of creating a space where to discuss more than just mathematics. We are a group of early career researchers in algebra, representation theory and algebraic geometry. As young academics we are drawn to spaces that give us the opportunity to expand our mathematical horizons while also talking about the problems that affect our daily lives, in academia and beyond. The CARE conferences stand as our way of creating such space. We want to do that while keeping mathematical research as a central topic, in order to create an event where participants could actively learn something new and create personal connections and collaborations with neighbouring people.

Our objectives

The objectives of the present workshop are simple:

  • Create a space for high quality scientific research, without comprimising on inclusivity and safeness of the environment;
  • Bring together young researchers from Europe and neighbouring countries to create new collaborations and learn from each other's work;
  • Create a space where participants can actively reflect and on ethical issues in academic life.

This format and these objectives were applied to the first CARE confrence in Lyon. We had an extremely positive feedback from its participants, and this event in Bochum is meant as a continuation of the same project, with a new thematical focus on geometry.
